Luleå Konståkningsklubb is arranging its yearly ice skating summer camp week 29 to week 30, 2025 (14 juli - 25 juli)
Dmytro Dmytrenko: A prominent figure skating coach and choreographer, Dmytro was the junior world champion in 1992 and the European champion in 1993. He has coached at the Youth Olympics and European Championships, and choreographed for skaters at the Grand Prix, European, World, and Olympic levels. Currently, he is the head coach at CIW Austria and has extensive experience leading training camps in Europe and Asia.
Oksana Dolhopolova: An experienced international judge and technical controller, Oksana has judged prestigious competitions such as the CS Nepela Memorial and JGP Riga. She has led international camps and consulted for national team skaters in Europe. Oksana holds a medical degree with specializations in pediatrics and sports medicine and is a board member of the technical committee for the Ukrainian Figure Skating Federation.
Alexander Snopov: An experienced figure skating coach with a background as a competitive skater, Aleksandr holds the title of Master of Sports of Russia. He has coached in Belarus, Russia, Finland, and Sweden, leading skaters to success in national and international competitions, including the ISU Junior Grand Prix. His coaching career spans multiple countries and competition levels.
The training takes place Monday to Friday during daytime, between 08:00 and 18:00 both weeks V29 and V30.
Training options are:
Three ice sessions of 50 minutes per day (total of 15 ice sessions/week) + one off-ice/ dance session per day (total of five off-ice sessions/week) or
Two ice sessions of 50 minutes per day (total of 10 ice sessions/week) + one off-ice/ dance session per day (total of five off-ice sessions/week)
The training is adapted both at the group level and individually, with the goal that all skaters receive the best possible training based on their own abilities. The ice sessions cover everything from more basic skating skills to various technical elements at an advanced level. The off-ice sessions are intended to include components of endurance, strength, coordination, agility, and sport-specific training. Skaters are therefore divided into groups based on skill level. The group division may be adjusted by the coaches before or during the camp based on the skaters' levels and/or the number of skaters in each group.
After the registration period has ended, a preliminary schedule for groups and training times will be presented.
Participating skaters are expected to be able to tie their skates, keep track of training times, and otherwise take responsibility for themselves. If a skater is unable to do so, a guardian or another adult must be available between training sessions. The camp is responsible for the training on the ice and off-ice.
There will be additional ice times available for booking private training (either individually or with a few skaters training together), for example, for choreography/programs or other areas you wish to train extra on. You can also use this time to get feedback from Oksana in her role as an international judge. This training is paid for by the skater and is therefore in addition to the fee specified below. Contact the coach for a price quote. Indicate in the registration if you are interested in this.
The camp will be held in Sunderbyn, about 17 km outside Luleå city center. Ice sessions are held in Sunderby ice rink, and off-ice/dance sessions take place in the nearby sports hall or outdoors if the weather permits. Between training sessions, there is access to a lounge area with tables, chairs, and sofas inside the ice rink. There is also a nearby swimming area and opportunities for other outdoor activities.
Lunch boxes can be delivered and offered at cost price. Please indicate in the registration if there is interest in this.
There is access to a smaller lounge area with tables, chairs, and sofas in the ice rink. There will be a microwave and a kettle available.
For accommodation, we recommend Sunderby Folk High School, which is located right next to the ice rink, and Scandic Luleå with a direct bus to Sunderbyn.
